New Character Contest Shirts and stuff

In the spirit of Stephenie’s contest from last year to introduce new character shirts for Bella, Emmett, Carlisle, Esme, and Jasper, we are hosting our own contest for Rosalie, Renesmee, and an alternate Edward Fan Club shirt. The contest will be open for fan submissions starting on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008 at 8:00 am PST, so get your imagination engines revving. The winner for each character shirt design will receive a Signature Edition Fashion ring. The contest will run for one week, and will officially close at 11:00 pm PST on September 10, 2008.
This contest is open to anyone in all countries. Poland, Thailand, and Mexico residents will not be able to receive the ring as a price due to import regulations imposed by those countries. However, we will make accomodations for other prizes of equal value for winners living in those countries.

UPDATE: All you wonderful people that submitted your ideas BEFORE 8:00 am PST on September 3, 2008…guess what? Those messages have been deleted! This is because the rules say that the contest starts at 8:00 AM PST ON SEPTEMBER 3. You will have to resubmit those ideas. Just thought you should know.
UPDATE UPDATE: It’s on! You may now legally submit your ideas with wanton abandon. Just remember the rules.

Haha cool. I don’t want to seem touchy about it or anything, just want to know.. are there 613 or 616 signature editions in all now?
Sarah – There were only 613 made. Period. The reason we are able to offer these as prizes is because we had a few rings that went unpaid and therefore we have some left over that we can offer as prizes.
I’m not trying to be rude, but it’s about time that Rosalie get a shirt!! and YAY!! for another Edward shirt!

I’m wondering, to email our suggestion for Edward’s t-shirt, do we send it to edwardcullencontest@twilighttee.com (which is what the rules say) or is that a typo? Sorry for being nitpicky, I just don’t want to send my entry to the wrong place!
Manda – Thanks for pointing out the error. You are correct, it is a typo. I will submit a new document with the correction on it.
Hey, Brian, what was the answer to Manda’s question?? When do you find out if you have won? When can you see all the designs? Will they be shown? or just the winners??

Melinda – The answer to Hanna’s question is basically in the rules for the contest. Only one submission for each character will be considered per entrant. If you submit more than one entry per character, only your first entry will be considered.
Do we have to enter our full name, or are we allowed to enter a pen or first name only?
What are the sizes of the remaining Signature Edition fashion rings? If necessary is resizing possible?
Maru – We will need your real name when it comes to actually shipping you the prize. When we announce the winners, we do not identify the person by full name, and if you want just a screen name or something like that, we can use that, too. But to ship, WE (Twilight Teez) need your real name.
Kaila – We will work out with the winners the appropriate sizing for the rings.

Inevitably more than one person will probably submit the same idea. Or at least the same slogan. Will the winner be the one who submitted theirs first? And when will the winner be chosen? I thought I read somewhere it’d be on Sept. 13th, but I can’t find a date anywhere. Once the winners are chosen, about how long before the shirts will be available for sale?

Sorry if I’m being a little oblivious, but where and how do we submit our entries?
So we have to design a new T-shirt for the contest right? I know this is stupid, but what is the Signature Edition Fashion ring? Is it Bella’s ring. Or just any ring.
Amie – I will try to make a version of the rules that you do not have to download in Adobe format. But keep in mind the Adobe Reader (which is linked to in the post) is a free download and runs on most platforms. The link is to the Windows version, but you should be able to find a version appropriate for your computer if you are not running Windows.
Nikita – The confirmation e-mails had a typo. In my haste to make sure they all had the same information, I did not verify that they were properly customized for each character. Thanks for pointing this out. I have made the proper corrections.
Lauren and Olivia – Instructions on how to enter the contest are included in the rules that you need to download.
Cyndi – We will let the winner decide if they want yellow or white gold.
Marissa – We’re talking Bella’s Engagement Ring (it’s the only ring we sell). When we say Signature Edition Fashion ring, we mean the Fashion version of Bella’s ring, and it will be the Signature Edition (which comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Stephenie Meyer herself).

When do we find out who won? And also, how are you going to decide who wins, because there are going to be more that one submission for the same slogan?

twilight-obsessed-freak – The contest is two words. No more. No less. All of our other character shirts are two words only. We need to keep the precedent.
Megan (and everyone else who can’t run Adobe for whatever reason) – I have created a new page on this blog that displays the rules and how to submit your ideas. The link is in the post itself.
Raeanne – We will begin to determine the winners after the contest closes at 11:00 PM PST on Sept. 10. After that, Twilight Teez will do an initial sorting of the ideas; grouping similar ideas and determining who’s ideas will be ultimately be submitted to Stephenie for final judging. Stephenie Meyer will make the final decision as to who the winners are. Her decisions are final. Winners will be notified first by e-mail and then we will announce them on our blog here.
Twilight Teez will be the sole judge as to which ideas are submitted to Stephenie for her final selection.

I have a question about the contest, as I couldn’t find an answer to it in the rules:
Can people from outside the U.S. take part in the contest? I’d love to, but I’m not sure about it.
OK, I’m sorry to split yet another hair on the rules to the contest, but would “&” count as a word?
Sabrina – the contest is available to everyone except people in the countries of Mexico, Poland, and Thailand. These countries restrict the shipments of jewelry.
Shannon – The ampersand does not count as a word. However, the rules explicitly state two words. In order to keep precedence with the other character shirts, we will not accept submissions that use numbers (unless they are spelled out) or punctuation marks.

what about copyrighted material? if we wanted to put a brand name in it would it be legal or would you get sued? sorry if this is a stupid question
Elaine – That question is covered in the rules, but basically, any submissions that include copyrighted material will be discarded.

i have a question: if i have a submission of three short words, will it still be considered or will it be discarded
Emmy – ALL of our character slogan shirts are short words. The rule is two words only, no matter how long they are.

Ashley – The rules only say one submissions per character per person. This means that your sister can submit an idea. But only one per character like everyone else. I strongly suggest she use a different e-mail address than you do.
You said we can’t submit anything with a punctuation mark, but the Jasper shirt has a question mark on it!
The Edward idea I submitted has a question mark in it as well… if that’s not okay, can I re-submit a new idea?
Oh, and the Alice shirt also has a question mark too

Amanda – The question that I was answering relating to punctuation was asking if the punctuation mark counted as a word. I should have been more clear in my answer. Punctuation marks do not count as words. Sorry for any confusion.
Do we have less of a chance of winning if we didnt submit an idea for the picture to go with the words?
what do we submit for pictures? i have no idea for that part…are they photoshopped real pics to be simple and black and white? or do we create them…which i dont know how to do…how do u? please help!

Megan – We will consider ideas that do not have a suggestion for the image as well as ideas that do.
nikki – If you read the instructions, you will find that we do not want you to submit actual images with your idea, just a short description of the image. Copyrighted ideas include slogans from other companies or organizations. For example, “Got Milk?” cannot be used. Also, anything from the Twilight movie is off limits. If you’re not sure, do a Google search.
Stephenie Meyer owns the copyright on the text of the books. Since she’s the one who is the final judge for the contest, and she is the one who would grant permission to use the text, then it’s okay to use text from the books.

When will the winners be decided?
The winners will be announced as soon as we determine them. The contest ends at 11:00 PM PST on Wednesday, Sept. 10. When it ends, we will commence with the first round of eliminations. There are currently somewhere around 300 entries in each category, which means that by the time the contest ends, we will have over 1,000 total entries that we need to sort out. We’ll have to narrow down the finalists to about 20 or so per category. Those will be sent off to Stephenie for final decisions. We will announce the winners when Stephenie makes her decisions.
Once the winners are chosen, we will be working very hard to get those designs up on the site very quickly.
I only heard about this contest until now so I suppose it’s a bit on a hurry but I have a few ideas. However, I read through the rules and it doesn’t mention anything about outside the US. Is this contest applicable to all (i.e international) or just US residents?
Leila – I answered this question in an earlier comment, but I will place the answer in the post as well (I meant to do this earlier). Brianna – Renesmee is spelled with two e’s at the end, at least that’s how Stephenie has spelled it in the book.
Lauren – We don’t have any of the other character names using hyphens, but that’s mainly because their character slognas don’t really require them. If your suggestion works better with a hyphen, then I don’t see why we wouldn’t consider it.
Kierra – your suggestion doesn’t use words. And we have already specified no numbers unless they are spelled out.
Clara – We’ll have your e-mail address. We’d really like your name, but we can still get in touch with you so if you’re idea is selected, we’ll ask you for your full name at that time.

i have a question, if we include a picture, will we not be considered at all?
Emmy – We would really prefer that you not submit an image. Just a description of it, please. The main reason for this is because images take up a lot of space on our e-mail server and there’s only so much storage space the server can accommodate. We won’t disqualify anyone for submitting an image, but it won’t increase your chances of winning either. But believe me in our sincerity when I say please, please, please do not send an image with your contest entry.
Hayy wait if our idea gets sent to Stepenie do we get to find out. And what day do you think the results will be sent out to the winners. Thank you so much for having this contest and good luck sorting through all of them.
Lizz – I cannot say for sure how long it will take once the contest ends to determine the final winners. We will not be notifying people if they make the final cut that gets to Stephenie. Winners will be notified via e-mail, and then announcements will appear on our main web site as well as here on the blog.

Emmy – We have not sent Stephenie anything, yet. When we do, we won’t be able to estimate when the winners will be announced because of the very fact that we don’t know when Stephenie will be able to let us know her final selections.
We also considered a Bella Cullen shirt, but we didn’t get authorization from Stephenie prior to starting the contest. We hope to do a Bella Cullen shirt later.
