June 13 is a very important date. For many Twilighters, there is simply nothing more that needs to be said. But in case you are not aware, this is the day that Edward proposed to Bella. And on this day, he gave her one of the most anticipated gifts a man could give a woman.

OMG! It is so perfect. Totally a credible family heirloom from the turn of the century. My grandmother had the exact birthday as Edward, and she had a ring very much like this that she gave me. Sadly, I no longer have it because of a robbery at my parents’ home, but I still remember it. The diamonds totally look like rosetta diamonds popular at that time!
Uhh. No offense guys at all but i do not like it. Its not very pretty i thought it would be a lot better looking. I couldn’t see edward giving that to Bella. It kind of looks like a ring an old granny would wear. Im sorry and i know you guys worked hard but i don’t like it.

Roxie – You are, of course, entitled to your opinion. But if you don’t mind me saying so, you hit it right on the nose when you said “It kind of looks like a ring an old granny would wear.” Remember the time period that Edward’s mother would have been alive. It’s not supposed to be a modern design. It’s a turn-of-the-century design, and this is precisely the design that Stephenie had in mind when she described the ring.
Also, keep in mind that this is just an artist’s rendition. It is not a photograph of the actual ring. This image doesn’t do it justice.

correct me if i’m wrong, but i dont think that the ring is a FLAT oval, guys. i’m pretty sure the stones on the side slant downward and the larger stone in the middle is slightly raised. i think a lot of people have the misconception that its just a ring with a flat oval containing the jems, but if you look at the picture [and read the book] it says that the surrounding stones slant downward in an oval shape, which would be VERY turn of the century.
either way, the ring is a masterpiece and i cant wait for it to go on sale!!

Immie and Elise – There is what is called an open-scroll gallery around the edge, which cannot be seen in this illustration because this image is a rendition of the ring looking from the top. The open-scroll gallery may be the “webbing” you are referring to, as it is open underneath and allows light to be seen from under the gems. Maybe this is what you were thinking?
Just a reminder, this is the ring that Stephenie authorizes as the ring that Edward gives to Bella. Although all of us imagine the ring differently as we have to go by mere textual descriptions, we have consulted extensively with Stephenie on this issue.
One, this is an artist’s rendition…therefore it is not three dimensional so it’s difficult to judge it fairly. So don’t be so harsh.
Two, the webbing described in the book IS there, it’s on the sides where you can’t see. It’s called “open scroll gallery” and it’s stated above.

But i was wondering… is there any way to set up a payment plan option for the Genuine… I would love to get that in addition to teh fashion ring. so that i could have my mom hold onto it till my edward comes along and asks for my hand in marriage…
I think there ought to be a payment plan for the genuine… since most people can’t pay for that in one shot… unless they save… and whose to say it won’t be there for them when they want to buy that version of the ring!
Umm… I’m sorry, but I really think that ring is pretty ugly. BUT I do understand that it belonged to Edward’s mother and that type of ring was probably in fashion at the turn of the century and whatnot…

Personally, I don’t think it’s that amazing. It’s a little garish, in my opinion. It’s okay. Kind of pretty. And I do think that it would be the most romantic thing in the world if a guy proposed to you with that ring. I’d buy it, just because I’m so Twilight-obsessed, if I could afford it. My grandmother, who was born in 1896, had a ring like this. It was given to her by her aunt, and I have it now. It is round rather than oval, diamonds set in gold. This is very much what a fashionable young woman (yes, my grandmother was VERY fashionable, always) would have worn in the early part of the 19th century. Good period design work.
Ok, now you guys need to work on making a wedding dress, obviously a costume one since a real one would probably be way to expensive to make let alone sell. That’s the last item on the list of Bella’s things I want to see or buy, haha.

I got the Volvo S60R (very fun car) and had considered getting the ’signature edition’ of the ring until I saw the artist’s rendition. To me, at least, it does not fit the description that Stephenie has given in the book. Sorry!

well….This is definately not what I was expecting for Bella’s ring…I pictured it a very delicate pretty ring that would look like it really belonged to Elizabeth Mason. so maybe keep trying on that design…look through the tiffany’s catalog…they have some real beauty that would definatly pass for the real ring…

I agree…can there be some form of payment plan for the two more expensive rings? I think this would help a lot of people out, and also encourage more people to “upgrade” from the Fashion ring. For example, if someone knew they could pay (i.e.) $100 a month, they might buy the Fine ring v. the Fashion ring.
Also, in the book (b/c I forget), did Edward present Bella with a gold or silver ring?

I forgot to put in my comment that there was acompany in the early 1900’s and they were called Happiness they were like the leader in engagement rings there designs looked much like this one my Great Grandmother was engaged in 1921 and her engagement ring look almost identical to Bella’s but in stead hers goes side to side and it was cause “The Princess”. They were very popular back then because the girls could get the sparkle of a larger type diamond with many smaller ones and it saved on budget!

I’m sorry to say, but that would have to be the most disgusting piece of jewelery I have ever seen. There is nothing feminine or dainty (as Edwards mother is portrayed to be) about it.
To me, that piece is not reflective of the 1800’s at all (my own engagement ring is from 1815) – the designer should have read the book more carefully and done a lot more research.
Sorry, but that to me looks gaudy and cheap.

So….everyone is just goign a LITTLE bit crazy over this whole thing. I mean it’s a good siries(sp?) and all, but sieriously(sp?) do we really need to get all over excited about it. it’s really expensive for soemthign that isn’t even mad the way they descibed it in the book. in Eclipes SE pg 458 “The face was a long oval, set with SLANTING rows of glitting round stones…The gold made a FRAGILE WEB AROUND the dimonds.” Thsi ring is like a dimond with circleing dimonds on a dome. Anyways I just don’t see the big deal. I love you Bribri.

Hey, Brian, I have the same question that another person had, but it hasn’t been answered yet. Why is the white gold version of the genuine ring rhodium plated over 14K yellow? Most engagement rings of this time period would have been 14K white gold or platinum. Any chance that that’s a mistake? Please? I’ve already made up my mind that I want a white gold genuine, but not if it’s just rhodium plated. That stuff flakes off and looks nasty after a few years. Please help clear this up. BTW – anyone who has any trouble with the design needs to do a little research on antique rings. This one is gorgeous and very correct for the period (except for that whole rhodium thing )
Note to Bribri and the people saying it doesn’t look like it’s described:
1. The “slanting rows” doesn’t mean that it’s a bunch of diamonds arranged in diagonal lines; it means they’re arranged on a dome so they’re slanting away from the center, which you can’t see in the picture because it’s of the face of the ring.
2. If you look at the tech specs, it says there’s an “Open-scroll gallery – Indicates a design on the side of the ring that lets light shine through to the back, providing a more illuminated effect for the gems.” That’s the “fragile web around the diamonds,” which you also can’t see in this picture of the face of the ring. It’s around all of the diamonds, not each individual one. It would lose much of it’s sparkle and never hold up to the wear a wedding ring would receive were there actual fragile webbing between each individual stone. And to be fair, you can’t see the detail around the stones until we get a photograph.

I hope that has some effect in dulling the negativity. In any case, you’ll never really take joy in your work if you focus on the people who will never be happy.

I am really interested in the idea of a payment plan. I am really worried that I will miss out because I won’t have $500 and above in just a few small weeks. I know a lot of people would be able to pay the rings off if given the opportunity. Perhaps if you could pay 30-50% upfront then have 3 months or so to pay the remainder? Just an idea.

Oh my, this looks like it will be absolutely lovely. Like some others have said, it doesn’t look exactly look like what I envisioned Bella’s ring to be. But looking back on the description in the book as well as speaking to a jeweler friend of mine, this ring is exactly what it should be. It shows exactly what would have been fashionable in the early 1900’s. I don’t believe that I will buy one because it’s not my preferred style, but I would like to say it looks like it will be stunning. I look forward to seeing the real thing soon. ^.^

Suggestion for those who don’t like the ring…
I, too, at first didn’t care for it. Too big and not what I pictured I guess. But then I copied the picture into Word and shrunk it down to the size of an actual ring and I love it! I think part of the problem for people is that the artist’s picture is SO BIG that you think “ew this is too big to be a delicate engagement ring!” Definitely, for anyone who is doubting the beauty of this ring, shrink the picture down to a ring size and you may just find that you are in love with it after all
And Brian, you WILL post actual pictures of the ring (not just drawings), right? Because I definitely need to see the real thing before I pay hecka money for this!

Wow, I’m really sorry, but I agree totally with Roxie. It’s definitely “from the times” but I think it would be more important to make it look like something Edward would give to Bella than historically accurate. This was your chance to completely blow us all away, and this is simply a tremendous FAIL. It matches the description in the book, sure, but did you go deeper? No. You got the oval face and the narrow gold band, but where in the book Bella describes the ring as delicate, this looks huge and heavy and SO dis-tasteful. Edward did NOT give that ring to Bella. I think you’ll be hearing very soon from many more people just as dissappointed as I am.

In reality it shouldn’t look this big…so the next person who wants to leave a stupid comment like that should think about what the real photo is gonna look like

See, guys? The ring is supposed to have lots of diamonds– Alice says so. Also, the fact that this was EDWARD’S MOTHER’S ring says something too. If you think about it, she was most likely engaged before Edward was born (1890s – 1900), which means that this ring is over 100 years old.

i have a question that doesnt have anything to do with the ring but i just didnt know where to ask about it….how come the contest to win tickets to new york to meet stephenie meyer is only available in the unites states???
Nada – The contest includes “…roundtrip airfare, hotel and tickets to the event…”. Roundtrip. Airfare. That means that the contest winner will be flown from their home to New York. Flying is not the most economical thing to be doing these days. My guess is that they (the contest runnerers) are limiting the contest to the US almost solely because of airline costs.
Let’s just say that you live in San Diego, California, and you are one of the winners. A roundtrip flight from San Diego to New York would run you about $400.00 on a good day. That’s the lowest I just found on Travelocity.com.
Now let’s consider flying from somewhere overseas. Say, from London. The cheapest I found was $1,109.00 on Travelocity.com. That’s over $700.00 difference. And that’s all in US Dollars, too.
The cost gets higher with other countries. Flying from Berlin, Germany is $1,170.00. From Paris, France, it’s $1,438.00. From Japan it’s over $2,000.00. Per person.
On top of the travel costs, there are other issues to deal with. The winner would have to get a passport and apply for a visa to visit the US. This is not a quick in-and-out type of thing. It takes weeks, sometimes months to get a passport and visa approved. There’s just not enough time for all of that. Ultimately, it’s just a whole lot less of a pain in the tooth to simply limit the contest to the United States.

Nada – That will depend on where you’re flying from, but there’s a cost issue there, too. I just looked up flying in from Quebec. That’s $548.00 roundtrip. Montreal is not much more expensive than San Diego. Calgary is just over $600.00. Vancouver (beautiful place)(I’ve never been there) is $526.00.
Again, just thought you’d be interested. Traveling anywhere these days is an expensive endeavor, no matter what mode of transportation you use.

IMHO – I believe the description of the book states that the ring is gold. If it were white gold, I think Stephenie would have made that distinction. I’m almost positive that Stephenie has, in fact, publicly stated that the ring is yellow gold, but I’m not sure.

As excited as I am to witness the release of Bella’s engagement ring as a third-person party, I cannot truthfully say that this is THE most beautiful ring I’ve imagined Edward would give Bella. Perhaps it’s because I was expecting a delicate ring, one with a more-than-good-sized diamond laced with gold and smaller diamonds surrounding it, or maybe I’ve been brainwashed by fanfiction. Whatever the case, I would’ve never pictured it like this, as presentable as this ring may seem. Although I’ve read Chapter 20 many times, comparing the words to the picture, I still have a hard time imagining this ring to be THE ONE. And from my own spectulations, I’d hardly think Bella would were something as bold and eye-catching as this ring.

Is the only difference between the Fashion and Fine rings that the Fine ring is handcrafted? It doesn’t seem much more different. If there is something in the hand-crafting that makes it that much more special I think it would be helpful to know.

Lulu – ALL of the rings are hand-crafted. Not just the Fine. Even the Fashion ring is hand-crafted. The primary difference between the Fine and Fashion is that the Fashion is 14K gold-plated, while the Fine is 14K gold all the way through.

I don’t normally like gold jewelery, but i do like this ring. Like most it wasn’t what i had imagined, but from what i can see it fits perfectly. Can’t wait to see the final product and to see it go on sale. I’ll definitly be getting one, though i’m not sure which yet. depends on funds. I wanted a ring to wear for my baby, due in nov, something that i could wear everyday as a reminder, just like my wedding and engagement rings from my husband.

you mentioned that the signature editions will be limited to 613, the classic will be sold continuously, that both options in the fine and genuine are all basically made to order– meaning you won’t run out of the classic, right? so if i need some time to collect funds, and it takes me a (long) while, will i still be able to get a ring? or are they being sold for a limited time?
Jackie – Trust me, we’re biting at the bit just as much as everyone else. We are very anxious to get this out, but we are also anxious to make sure it’s just perfect for our very exacting customers.
Lulu – The Signature Edition will be available only while supplies last. Once the 613th ring is sold, that is it for that edition. The classic edition will be available ongoing and as long as Stephenie lets us sell it.
So many people think the ring is “not what I pictured at all”. But, I DID picture it this way! I think it’s truly amazing. It’s so beautiful. I could definitely imagine this ring as the ring Edward gave to Bella.

Is it at all possible to get the fashion ring in half sizes? A seven is too small and an eight falls off my finger too easily. i have posted like 5 things now, but i have a question- does the ring have a thin or thick band? i hope its thin but im getting it either way
vicky- i know exactly what you meen. i am not going to see the mvie because i think it wont do justice to the book at all, and i dont really like the actors, but i have to suck it up. i was really disapointed with some of the clips i saw for the movie that were both posted and not posted on the stephanie meyer website. and no, i didnt go and look for these clips either. i would never want to spoil anything like that, even if im not going to see the movie. one big thing for me is that when i read these books i cant picture everything perfectly, and sometimes agianst what the writer wants you to imagine, exept the charecters faces. i think this is because faces are to complex, no matter how good and in detail the writer makes them, they are just too complex. so i dont like seeing pictures of actors or fan made pictures of the charcters because then i get an image in my head of that charecter when i read and it is an image i dont want beacuse i would rather have the perfect(faceless) image that the writer has made then a fanmade or and actor. im just wierd that way i geuss lol. and when i read the books i dont to be thinking of a movie in my mind when its at a special scene. i want it to seem like its real in my head not movie fake. lol the same thing happened to the harry potter books and movies in my opinion. i think the books are better than the movies because the scenes you imagine in your head are better then any special effects in the univerese. that is my opinion and i dont know if anyone else feels that way but i hope so. also if you have read any of my other links you will see i have a strong opinion to peoples opinions lol. now im ranting like usual lol. well g2g bye!. Michelle- I agree with you 110%!!! I will see the movie but am really disapointed with the clips i have seen.
Examples:
‘Trailer- 1st Why are they in the woods talking (how older are you…)when they are supposed to be in Edward’s car, after he saved her from those pervs? 2nd When he says you really should not have said that in the book they are in his room and he playfully attacks her. In the clip they are in a white room and he jumps out the window, and it appears to be into the trees.’
‘The first completed scene- 1st Bella runs at James with pepper spray in the ballet studio, what is that about! 2nd Bella is never smashed against the mirrors! 3rd Bella’s leg is never stomped on!4th Bella is not bitten! 5th She did not pass out, inn the clip she was fully awake watching Edward with James. 6th James never told her about Alice or his plans or…! I get it can’t be perfect and that is what i am looking for, it being exactly like the book, so i might be being a little harsh. But i can’t help it.
Finally ‘The Old Pix on the Movie Website- Why are they in trees? That was like five of their pix, Edward and Bella in trees’
Again i am probally being harsh. I like the scene with Tyler’s van and Bella almost being killed!
I agree with the thing Michelle said about faces too. I never pictued their faces perfectly clear,and the actors are good, but not what i want to see when i am ready and watching the books.
Finally, (sorry i am ranting on)I have watched all the books on my own big screen t.v.-the one in my head-threw S.M. words. And nothing can compare to the special effects and sharpness of the humane imagination.

To be honest I think it looks like somthing that you could get out of a quarter machine….it’s just not elagent as I saw it. Maybe it’ll look better in actual finished product but still it looks kinda just…weird…

it is exactly how it is described in the book. obviously. u might want to take another look at pg.458 in eclipse. it has to be, they worked with STEPHENIE MEYER on this. she wouldnt let them give us anything but the best. it is old fashioned and granny-like in a way, but hello, 1890-1900. o, and its not really that big. little less than an inch long, bout half and inch wide. obviously, that painting is blown up QUITE a bit.
1)i would like to say that i love the ring. it isnt what i pictured in my head…its better! and it is old-fashioned, but hey, so is edward! i am getting this, no matter what it takes! well time to start begging mom…
2)i totally agree with u on almost everything u said about the movie Twerd 12. (bella is bitten, u just cant really see it. but it shows him feeding from her hand. actually, she gets bitten 2x, on her hand AND on her wrist:( )I noticed all of those differences too. i also have high standards when it comes to books-turned-movies, but really only with my very favorite books like twilight.

twerd12- thank you for commenting!, i agree with you when you talked about the fight scene in the end of the book…..wait a minute….THERE IS NO FIGHT SCENE IN THE END OF THE BOOK! THEY JUST PUT 1 IN THE MOVIE! what really bothers me is that i have seen and read almost every article on this movie and all of them are not even close to what happens- i know its a movie and they need to make it “exiting”, but pretty much everyone who goes to see the movie has read the books, and found them exiting, so they dont need to do things like that! the audiance will still find it exiting if its like whats in the book- thats why they came to see the movie in the first place! like there is supposed to be a scene were the FLY out into the trees BEFORE BELLA KNOWS HE IS A VAMPIRE!!! that is what put me off the movie in a heartbeat, i know its harsh to say that, but that is not what tons of the fans are looking for- i can say this because i am and know tons of fans. also twerd12 i must say since you read my other post, you know my opinion on images of things in the book, so i didnt like the magazine cover. when i first saw it i thought it was someone else in his arms, it didnt look like her at all. i personaly think it would have been way better if Emmy Rossum played bella. i think she has a better softness, yet still bella like appearance and character about her. i read the clip from the link on Stephanie’s website and i saw the comments were the director was having a hard time and was almost scared to cast the characters, and i know why but i still think that they could have done better with over half the charecters.
BRAIN-i have two questions
1. is the rings band thick or thin?(the part that you put yoour finger through)

Michelle – We will post notifications in all places that we can. But most notably on our store site, this blog, Stephenie’s site, and the Twilight Lexicon if possible.
Also, there is a fight scene at the end of the first book. But because the story is told from Bella’s perspective, we don’t get to see it because, if memory serves, she was not in a position to observe the fight.
Summit is putting a lot of money into this movie, so they are going to want to make sure they get a fair return on their investment. If they were to not put a fight sequence in there, I think they’d have a lot of disappointed movie-goers who may not have read the book (I know a lot of people who would rather watch the Harry Potter movies than read the books). There is a fairly large market out there that doesn’t mind slight modifications to book-turned-movies, and I for one look forward the fight between James and Edward. I was disappointed that it wasn’t more detailed in the book.
BRIAN-sorry about the typo earlier, i have another question. the lifetime warrenty- does this mean that if i buy the fashion ring that if im not sastisfied with it, it is reternable? because i have heard from some people that the fashion rings plating can chip very easy and turn my finger green even! so if oyu could please let me know that would be awsome!
Michelle – The lifetime warranty means that if anything happens to the ring that is caused by a manufacturer’s defect, we will take care of it for you. If the plating chips, it will be fixed at no cost (aside from shipping).
also it says in the book on page 461 “what happened to james?”
“after i pulled off you, emmett and jasper took care of him.” there was a fierce note of regret in his voice. it also says that they had to go into the other room because there was to much of bella’s blood everywere just thought i would mention this because you are right, there is a “fight scene” per-say and it is not from bella’s perspective- its from emmett and jasper’s point of view. i hope that you do not take offense to my posts, i only put them on here as my opinion and i try to make them as desriptive and yet un-offensive as possible. i also know that if they WERE offensive they would have been deleted and i have no problem with that. thank you for your time.

Michelle – There’s a difference between stating your opinions and being offensive. We don’t delete comments simply because we disagree with the opinions stated. We allow that others have their opinions and likes and dislikes. We understand that not everyone is going to like the ring. It’s possible to state opinions without being rude or intentionally malicious. You can state the you do not like the ring, but stating that you don’t like the ring and saying things like “and anyone who does is an idiot” is offensive.
We do not delete comments unless they are point blank hurtful, rude, or contain content that is not becoming a family blog or fansite.
That being said, nothing that you have stated so far is offensive. We appreciate and respect your comments and opinions.

Wow, I don’t like it at all. I know it’s supposed to be what Edward gave her, but it seems too clunky. I was expecting something a little more delicate, like Bella.

Hey! I was reading an article from entertainment weekly, it was an interview/report with/on stephine meyer. And S.M. said this:

What bugged my is that someone would say that. Then it said this:

I think I’ve become too obsessed, I’ve been checking the rings status everyday since the picture was posted-I’m so impatient. I’ve decided to compromise with my mom and get the fine ring instead of the genuine (I only compromised because it will be healthier for my bank account ^.^;). Anyways, next project–THE BED!!!! I’ve drawn numerous sketches of Edward’s room (edited since Eclipse to include Bella’s bed) and I just can’t seem to get it right. The various shades of gold are all wrong and seem to clash. So I’m giving up and I want the Pros to do it here at twilightteez. You guys are the best at making every girls fantasy a bit more real. Thank you so much, you’re all so wonderful and no one could ask for a more dedicated group.
OMG!!! I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited for Breaking Dawn!!!! I have read Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse so many times already that I know Breaking Dawn will be fantastic!

Mmi – I’m not sure what you mean by “and the payment stuff” but if you are wondering if we will have a payment plan, the answer is not at this time. We do not have any method of offering a payment plan nor is offering one our top priority right now. We have bigger fish to fry, so to speak. We have several very large upcoming projects to deal with, including a brand new contract that we just signed to offer t-shirts for another very famous author (more on that later).

OMG i love the ring!! Not exactly what i thought it would look like but it is georgous! I’m excited about the ring too. But… I think it might be pushing things a little. I mean I love Edward just as much as anyone. But wearing the ring? While as cool as it is, unless you are actually getting married- in which case it would be a clasic and really cute thing for a guy to propose (totaly spelled that one wrong) with- I think its a little much. The braclet however, c’mon. Even i got one.

ok i gotta say that at first the ring kinda disappointed me but it’s starting to really grow on me (like a parasite) and now i want it. aside from that, i’m trying to get my boyfriend to read the books but he is being ridiculously resistant. he sees it as a “girl thing” any ideas how to fix that?
