Twilight Teez Apple Hunt Contest – Win a Twilight DVD signed by Kellan Lutz and Gil Birmingham

categories Contests, The Store, Twilight Books

Hey, everyone!  I know, I know, I’ve been lax in my duties at reporting stuff here.  But I think after tonight’s announcement, you will forgive us.  We’re giving away a Twilight 2-Disc Special Edition DVD from Hot Topic.  But this isn’t just ANY Twilight 2-Disc Special Edition DVD from Hot Topic, this one has been signed by Kellan Lutz and Gil Birmingham!  That’s right, folks!  Emmett Cullen and Billy Black have had their hands all over this DVD package.  And it could be yours!  Imagine, you could be holding in your hands the very same DVDs that Kellan Lutz did.

This is how the contest will work, in a nutshell.

  1.  Scattered throughout the TwilightTeez.com web site are Edward Cullen Fan Club apples.  The apples are unique in that each one is colored differently.  Find these apples.  They could be anywhere, so you’ll have to actually hunt them down (thus the name of the contest).  Each apple has a code associated with it.  The code appears underneath the apple.  As you find each apple, write down the code that goes with it.

  2. Purchase at least $20.00 in merchandise from our store.  Retain your Order ID as you will need this to enter the contest.  Your order must take place between 12:00 AM MST April 27 and 11:59 PM MST May 10.  Previous orders from our store are not elligible.

  3. Go to http://www.twilightteez.com/pages.php?pageid=14, read the official rules and conditions PDF file that is available there, and then enter in your information.  You must fill in ALL fields on the contest entry form.  You must also inform us if you are an adult or a minor 13 years of age or older and have the consent of a parent or guardian to enter the contest.

A random drawing of all eligible entries will be held and video recorded at noon MST on May 12.  The winner will be notified by e-mail and will have 48 hours to respond.  24-horus after notifying the winner, we will post the video of the draing on our YouTube channel.  If we do not hear from the winning entrant within 48-hours, we will cancel that winning entry and hold another drawing.

The contest rules and conditions and the contest submission form can be found on our web site at http://www.twilightteez.com/pages.php?pageid=14.  We’re really excited about this contest, and hope you guys have a lot of fun looking around for the apples.  Good luck to everyone!

The Host Shirts Now Available!

categories Shirts and stuff, Stephenie Meyer, The Store, Twilight Merchandise

The Host

It’s hard to believe with all that has happened in the last year that it’s only been about a year since the release of Stephenie Meyer’s The Host.  It seems like it’s been much longer than that, but it’s true.  Just 12 short months ago, we were introduced to Jared and Mel and Ian and, of course, Wanda.  And it seems like its’ been forever that we’ve been working on our own shirt designs to show off our support for that wonderful story, but we have them finally.  Our new The Host shirts are now available for immediate delivery and they are, in my humble opinion, awesome.  I can’t wait to get my own.

The first design I’d like to point out is the one we call simply Renegade Human.  It is a simple silouhette of Picacho Peak in Arizona, the setting of the book.  A beautiful Arizona sunset adds some color to this piece, and the text Renegade Human appears underneath in white ink.  Currently this shirt is availble in black, but if there’s a demand we can make it available in other colors as well.

Renegade Human

Our second offering in The Host series is from our favorite paternal figure in the family – Jeb.  His mantra was pretty straight forward.  This is his house, and therefore he makes the rules.  You don’t like it?  You don’t have to stay.  The funny part about that was that really, for the charactes in the story, the alternative to leaving wasn’t all that great.  I think this shirt will resonate with many parents, especially those who have teenagers.  I’m looking forward to wearing mine.

My House...My Rules

Personally, as fun as the graphics on the front of the shirts are, I’m particulary pleased with how the backs of these shirts came out.  The backs show off a Soul (Wanderer?) with its tendrils extended.  This graphic took some doing to get just right.  We knew that if we messed it up, Stephenie’s fans would most certainly let us know.  The Souls in The Host are not merely beautiful, but they shimmer as well.  And so does the graphic on the back of these shirts.  We have worked with our printer to deterine the perfect shimmering ink to use with these shirts, and let me tell you they look AWESOME!  The pictures here do NOT do them justice!

The Host Shirt Back

I’m so pleased that we can finally offer these shirts to you.  We do have others in the works, but I have no timeline as to when those will be available.  For now, we hope that you will like what we have and will consider purchasing them to add to your growing Stephenie Meyer collection.

In Other News…

We’re working dilligently to finalize several new designs that we want to make available.  I can’t post any of the images here, but here’s a brief look at what we’re offering in the very near future.

First up – and I’ve been touting this for some time – is our Dave Barry line of shirts.  We have four approved designs set for manufacturing, and all show off various aspects of Dave’s work.  Quotes include "Camping is nature’s way of promoting the hotel industry" and "There’s a fine line between a hobby and a mental illness."  Dave is also famous for suggesting great names for rock bands.  Some of his suggestions include "Combat Alfalfa", "Mosquito Hunters and the Unreliable Pollinators", and who could forget "Heave".  If none of these strike you as funny, then I highly recommend making an appointment with your doctor to have your sense of humor checked.  We have a design for a shirt which will highlight these names and many more, soon to be released exclusively from Twilight Teez.

If you’re not familiar with Dave’s work, and if you’re in need to laugh so hard you spew your Coke on your computer monitor, I highly recommend visiting his site and reading some of his past articles.  Click here to read some of his best work.

We are also on track to launch a new line of t-shirts that feature our own designs created by our in-house design staff.  These shirts will range in topic from humor to fantasy to sci-fi to poignant to cute.  Let it be known now that they are NOT Twilight related.  Our inspirations come in all forms, including one from my 3-year-old daughter.  You can expect these new designs to start cropping up in our catalog in the very near future.

On a final note, we’re gearing up for AccioCon, which will be going on at the end of this week.  We hope to see you out there.  We’re very excited about the opportunities this con will offer us.  We are also going to have a presence at several other conventions throughout the year, including Summer School In Forks and Twicon.  There’s so much to do and so little time.

Twilight Teez on the Twilight DVD

categories The Blog, The Store, Twilight Books, Twilight Merchandise, Twilight Movie

Well, geez, how long has it been since I last posted? It’s been particularly hard for me to write lately because, frankly, there’s not much to say right now. We’re on board with a lot of things, but we can’t really say much here because…let’s face it, I’ve said a lot of things that haven’t happened, yet. I’ve said we’ve got shirts from The Host coming up soon, but we haven’t put them up, yet. I’ve said we’ve got Dave Barry shirts coming up soon, but we haven’t put them up, yet. It’s hard to keep saying we’ve got a lot of things coming up and then have to delay the execution of those things because of small problems that keep cropping up.

The shirts for The Host are our most complex yet, which have caused a number of small issues to crop up each time we’ve sent them to manufacturing. I think it’s safe to say that we have solved the problems we have faced and are ready to launch two of our three designs that we’ve had approved. The third is not far behind.

Dave Barry is soon to launch, too. Again, if you don’t know who Dave Barry is by now, shame on you. I have been touting him for years. Go visit his web site at www.davebarry.com to learn more about him.

Another reason I haven’t posted much lately is because, darn it, it takes energy to write. I’ve been focusing a lot of my work on getting us ready for AccioCon in the next couple of weeks. We’re looking forward to it a lot, and we hope that many of you will give it a go. We also have our other events planned, TwiCon of course, coming up in July, as well as the Summer School In Forks event in June. Check them out on our Events page.

I am sorry for not writing sooner. I know, I’ve been meaning to, and I know that many of you have asked why no updates. I don’t really have much of an excuse except for the fact that (a) there really hasn’t been much news to report and (b) I’m lazy as heck. I am also sorry for not checking up on your comments to get them approved if, for whatever reason, they end up in the moderation queue.  Forgive me for not keeping up on that.

But there is one small minute note I’d like to point out. Twilight Teez appears on the Twilight DVD Special Features disc. My wife and myself are in the Comic-Con video. If you have the DVD, you can see us almost every time they show the audience. Let me tell you, it’s very bizarre to see yourself on such a mass distribution product. It’s cool, but bizarre.

We’re Still Here!

categories The Blog, The Store

Yeah, it’s been a while since my last post.  Things have been a bit crazy here.  I don’t have much time to add too many details, but here’s  rundown of the things that are keeping us busy.

The Host – We’re working hard on getting the final bits of our designs for our Host shirts.  We have the designs for the fronts of the shirts pretty much figured out.  It’s the backs that are giving us some trouble.  Getting them to look just right is taking some trial and error, but we’re getting really close.

Phoenix ComiCon – We had a vendor booth at the Phoenix Cactus ComiCon this past January, and it was a last minute deal for us.  Rushing to get everything ready in only a couple of weeks had us running around vampires with our heads bitten off.  But it was well worth it, and I’ll be posting photos of the event very soon.

AccioCon – Fresh off our stint at the Phoenix ComiCon is our upcoming gig at AccioCon in Orlando.  it’s only seven weeks away, and there’s a lot of preparation we need to do for this one.  We’re way excited about it, though, and can’t wait for the event to start.

Dave Barry – We are still in the midst of planning our new Dave Barry line of shirts.  We’ve got four approved designs now, and are working on about 10 more.

Twilight Teez Exclusive Designs – We are starting to develop our own design team which will pump out new designs that are exclusive to Twilight Teez and are not associated with any book series.  I’m particularly excited about this new direction we’re taking as we will be limitless to what we can create.  We’re working on fantasy and sci-fi themed designs which I believe will really help establish the Twilight Teez style.  More on this later.

Twilight Teez In The News

categories Dave Barry, News, Stephenie Meyer, The Store, Twilight Books, Twilight Movie

Twilight Teez has been getting a little bit of press, lately.  This is always a good thing for a business, even if it’s bad press.  Fortunately for us, it’s been very very good.

First, we’ve been featured on our local newspaper, The Sierra Vista Herald, for a second time.  The article can be found here:

Couple’s business boosted by success of ‘Twilight’

And today, we were interviewed by KOLD 13 News on our local CBS affiliate, which technically isn’t local to Sierra Vista but it’s local enough for us.  KOLD is located in Tucson, AZ, which is about 75 miles northwest and about 21.25 times the size of our little berg.  The video can be found on their web site, linked below.  Sorry, but you’ll have to wait through about a 30-second ad for something.

Twilight Craze Hits Southern Arizona

Finally, we would like to let y’all know that we will be featured on The Today show here in the coming days (or weeks).  We’ll let you know when as soon as we do.  While we’re not going to be ON the show, one of our products will be.  We can’t say which product, just now.  Keep your eyes open.

New Character Slogan Shirts Released To Manufacturing

categories The Store, Twilight Books, Twilight Merchandise

The three new character slogan shirts – Renesmee, Rosalie, and the Edward alternate – have been released to our manufacturing partners.  This means that the graphics have been sent to our screen printers for production on shirts and other apparel.  We hope to have them up on the web site very soon.

WE CANNOT MAKE ANY PROMISES THAT THEY WILL BE AVAILABLE BEFORE CHRISTMAS.

As much as I would like to say that the new shirts will be available in time for a Christmas delivery, because of the volume of orders we are currently receiving, we cannot make any guarantees that the new shirts will be ready by then.  Our shipping volume has exceeded 200 orders per day at this point, and order fulfillment must be our top priority.  We will have a big banner announcement when the new shirts are ready, as we have been very anxious to get these out to you.

Update: I have been authorized to publish the new designs right here on this very blog.  These are the final versions of these designs which have been personally approved by Stephenie Meyer.  So without further adu adew adiew delay, here they are.

First up we have Rosalie Cullen (and yes, it will be Cullen on the shirt, as that is how Stephenie wants it).

Rosalie’s design wasn’t all that much of a problem.  The first iteration had a hand-mirror that was far more ornate and intricate.  Stephenie, however, felt that this didn’t match well with the other designs, which are simplistic in nature.  She wanted to match the style of the designs to what we have already established.  So Roslie’s mirror was stripped of its ornateness,  We ended up with this simple hand mirror that we all felt was a much better match for the character and the precedent that we had already set.

Next, we have Renesmee Cullen.

Renesmee Cullen

Renesmee’s design was a little harder to produce.  The design called for a DNA strand, which was a lot harder to draw on the computer than you might expect.  This design went through a total of three iterations before we finally ended up with what you see here.  I’m particularly proud of this graphic.

And last, but certainly not least, we have Edward’s alternate to our famous Bite Me design.

Edward’s new graphic put up a bit of a fuss for us as well, until we settled on this final design.  The initial concept called for a smiley face, but no matter how we drew it up, the smiley face concept just wasn’t working for us.  So we decided to make a slight alteration to the apple graphic and viola!   The design was complete.

So there you go.  We hope you like them.  We feel that they are a very good representation of these charcters, and we are very excited to offer them up to you.  These images are copyrighted works and we ask that you not use these images without getting our consent first.  Like I said before, WE CANNOT GUARANTEE THESE DESIGNS BEFORE CHRISTMAS.  But we are working diligently to get them as soon as possible.  As SOON as we have these shirts in stock, we will place them on the web site.

We look forward to your reading your comments.

Twilight Teez Web Site and MSN or AOL Browsers

categories The Store

Folks,

It has come to our attention that some of you are experiencing some problems using our checkout page, in that the shipping optinos aren’t always displayed.  Our web site employs the use of javascript code on some screens, including the checkout page.  We have learned that our site does not work 100% properly under the MSN and AOL web browsers.  These are browsers that are incorporated in the MSN and AOL interfaces, but they are based on Internet technologies that are many years old.  The MSN browser appears to be based on Internet Explorer version 5.0, which does not support the latest versions of Java.

If you are experiencing problems with our web site and you are using either the MSN or AOL web browsers, we would ask that you switch to the latest version of either Internet Explorer (currently on version 7) or Firefox (currently on version 3.0).  If you are using either of these browsers, and are still having trouble with the shipping options not being displayed, we really need to hear from you.

Our site works best under Internet Explorer 7.0.

Store Upgrade Is Operational

categories The Store

As you probably have noticed by now, our new site software is finally operational.  We are excited as to what the new software will be able to do for us and for you, our customers.  I’m not going to offer up a whole lot of detail right now because I am operating on negative sleep right now, but here’s a list of some of the improvements that we expect to see with this new upgrade:

Some things that we expect to offer up soon.

One thing that you will need to do on the new site is create a new account.  There is a highly detailed, very technical reason for this, but I will spare you the details except to say that it involves lots of computer technical jargon.  Suffice it to say that the two systems are not compatible with each other, and it would have taken lots of time and money to hire a specialist to do the conversion.  The easiest method was to simply keep the old site operational for a while, and require that you create new accounts on the new site.

We look forward to the new capabilities and service offerings that this new site will offer all of us.  As always, if you have any questions, just send me a note.

The Story Of Our Lives

categories Not Twilight Related, The Store

I have worked in the Information Technology business for over 15 years.  I started as a computer technician working for a medical imaging company, installing computers in hospitals around the nation.  I worked my way up from there to computer support for an architecture and engineering firm, then moved into computer network support for a public education school district.  I’ve worked as a network administrator, software developer and even worked for several major government contractors before I finally formed Twilight Teez with my wife.  And in all of those years, it has been my experience that computers behave perfectly and precisely as programmed…in SchadeWorld.  Which is an entirely fictitious world existing only in my imagination and has nothing in common with reality.  For example, in SchadeWorld, I’m the lead singer and guitar player for a rock band, as well as the band’s sax player, drummer, and bass player.  I do not know how I play all of those instruments at the same time.  I’m also buff, have a rapier wit, and own several flying vehicles built upon technology that does not yet exist.  I like SchadeWorld.

In Real Life (RL for you gamers), computers rarely ever do what they are supposed to do when you really need them to.  They work perfectly in all sorts of test environments and give you precisely the results you’re looking for.  They will continue to perform with exacting precision the way they are supposed to all the way up until the moment you need them to actually perform the thing they are designed to do in real life.

Thus is the situation we now face here at Twilight Teez.  Today was supposed to be the day to launch our new store software (aka Shopping Cart).  But thanks to the wonderful world of Real LIfe, that of course couldn’t happen.  I’ll spare you the details.  At the moment, it’s pretty late and we intend to go home and get some sleep.  We will be delaying our shopping cart release for at least 24 hours until we can get this sorted out and fixed.  Until then, you can continue to enjoy our wonderful old software for at least another day.

Well, that’s about it for now.  If anyone’s interested in knowing technical details, I’d be happy to give them.  Until then, I need to fly off in my CTX130 Hercules starcruiser and play a gig in Las Vegas.
